March Community Dinner

On March 23, 2010, Leroy Moore talked to us about the Oregon State's Gemstone, the Sunstone. About 40 people attended the dinner presentation. He showed a DVD explaining the different ways to find, mine, and process Sunstones. Oregon Sunstones can only be found in about a 7 square mile area near Hart Mountain in southeastern Oregon. Leroy had a display of faceted
rings and other beautiful jewelery. Also, he brought other stones showing the different colors Sunstones come in.

Prior to the presentation, everyone enjoyed a potluck dinner. Diane Sietz prepared the main course of fantastic barbequed beef. Others brought wonderful side dishes and a big selection of desserts. Thanks to everyone, it was a successful dinner and presentation.

On January 23 and 24th we will have a booth at the Southern Oregon Wedding Expo at the Medford Armory. We hope you will come by to see us and also tell your friends. It is suggested that you bring a can of food, other then that it is free to the public. Hours are Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm. We hope this will advertise our facilities for weddings. Which will be a great income for the LCHS.

THANK YOU!!

I wish to Thank everyone that donated items for the Bazaar and also to everyone that helped organize and help the days of the Bazaar. Without every ones help and support this would not have been the success that it was. We made over $300.00 on Bazaar items and the lunch served. We also sold over $700.00 of cookbooks and calendars. But what is special we had 3 people sign up to be members of the LCHS. So all in all I believe the event turned out great. I want to also Thank those that made purchases, without your support it would not have been the success that it was!!

Community Christmas Dinner was a nice evening with Mr. Bill Abbott playing his keyboard and singing. We did not have many in attendance, but that might have been because of the weather conditions.

Thank you again, Marilyn Maloney

Grand Opening of the Lake Creek Store

The Lake Creek Store

July 24th 2009 was a historical day with the grand opening of the 2009 Lake Creek Store. A robust speech from Garland and a ribbon cutting by Betty Knoebel and Gregg Grissom the store was open for business. Two tee shirts and two beers were the first purchases made by Dave Thompson. With what was a beautiful day , most moved across the street to the park for a BBQ that was put on as a fund raiser for the Historical Society. Thanks to all that came to be and experience this grand event! Guy Grissom with father Gregg (workers on the store)
